Hello, you ray of sunshine! I hope you are feeling as grateful as I am today! I have to shed some light on a few things that have taken place this past week. First and foremost, my in-laws have come and gone. I know what you’re thinking, but surprisingly I’m not happy they left to return to their home in Wisconsin. My in-laws spent their entire twelve days in VA to help my husband, and I settle in our new home. They helped us in the yard, they built shelving for storage, they helped us with electrical work, and even helped paint! Not to mention all the tools they gave us. My husband and I are forever grateful for their hard work! My in-laws probably saved us about five years of work.
As a hairstylist, I get the pleasure of hearing what’s on my client’s minds. Most of the talk is fun and informative because I have the coolest clientele, but some of the talk makes me roll my eyes. Last week I had a client in my chair tell me she has to lose twenty pounds by September for her wedding. Twenty pounds in three months is a high goal to reach. Riiiight?! Read more →
Well, gooooood Monday guys! I’m just going to jump right into it. For the last three weeks, I’ve been dealing with the most horrid rash on my arms and legs. I got the rash in my backyard from the evilest plant on the planet called poison ivy. I don’t wish poison ivy on my worst enemy. I hope none of you ever have to experience what I just went through. Be careful out there and keep an eye out for the three-leafed devil!
Well, folks, I was true to my word and had a successful week of clean eating! I finally kicked myself into gear. I’m a tough cookie to break. I think I have a very addictive personality because all my mental strength goes into breaking a bad habit. The key is to replace the bad habit with a good habit. For example, this past week I substituted my after dinner munchies with tea and an orange, or I just cut myself off completely. Sounds easy enough, although I was fighting myself on every good decision I was making.
Why is it that on your day off from work you set yourself a mile long to-do list and none of it gets done?! I had that kind of day last week. I blame my failures entirely on the crappy weather. Colder temperatures and rain put me in a crummy mood. Everything I tried to accomplish was such a struggle. By the time I finished cooking dinner, I was thinking how I should have spent my day binge watching Netflix. I would have had a much needed chill, zen day.
Gooooood morning! I Hope you are off to an awesome start this Monday! The weeks have been flying by since we bought the house. Six weeks already! In six weeks we unpacked most of our boxes, painted the living room, white washed the brick fireplace, planted fifty trees, bought a mower, and had our first visit from the plumber.
Thank you springtime for your beautiful blossoms and greenery, but summertime is here to shine! Why do we obsess over the weather? Well, I’m obsessing over 88 degrees in Virginia. Unbelievable. This Wisconsin girl loves the heat. Summer is on the brink of arrival whether you like it or not. What do you like or not like about the season? I don’t think we can be friends if you dislike summer! I like that I wear lighter and brighter clothing. I like farmers markets. I like that the days are longer. I like having glowing sun-kissed skin. I like beaches. I like everything about summer!
Hello, Springtime! Hello, you ray of sunshine! I’m ecstatic to be writing to you from my new home! I feel as if my life is in bloom alongside the trees and flowers. Now that I’m a month moved into my home, I thought I would miss the excitement of being on the go. Settling down sounded BORING. To my surprise, I’m so much happier now that I’m a home owner. I love my house so much I can’t even stand it. I feel more secure knowing I have all the time in the world to enjoy it. It’s not like renting where you know it’s temporary.
Hey guys! I’m baaack in full swing! I apologize for taking the last couple of weeks off from the blog. I was insanely unmotivated after my trip from California. I caught a nasty chest cold for the second time in a month. I hardly had enough energy to go to work let alone exercise. I was in a crap mood, tired of the gloomy, cold days and dreading yet another house move!!!
Happy Sunday! I hope you are making the most of your weekend! I’m en route to California for the very first time!!! I’ve been dreaming of California since I was sixteen years old. As a teenager, I was madly obsessed with the television series The O.C. with Mischa Barton, Ben McKenzie, Rachel Bilson, Peter Gallagher, etc. Ask anyone who knew me then; I was the show’s biggest fan! I fantasized about the glamorous side of California. I was captivated by the beaches, the sunsets, the ocean, the palm trees, the mansions, the models, the cars, the country club way of life. I wanted to be Marissa Cooper aka Mischa Barton livin’ it up on a yacht or cruising along the coastline in my convertible. Sounds like fun right?!!
