Workout Week: Attitude Check

As a hairstylist, I get the pleasure of hearing what’s on my client’s minds. Most of the talk is fun and informative because I have the coolest clientele, but some of the talk makes me roll my eyes. Last week I had a client in my chair tell me she has to lose twenty pounds by September for her wedding. Twenty pounds in three months is a high goal to reach. Riiiight?!
Shedding twenty pounds in three months is totally possible if you eat strict Paleo and workout twice a day. If you want to look good, you better have sweat and tears pouring out of ya! I was happy to hear my client hired a personal trainer who raided her kitchen and tossed away the BS. Just as I thought, her trainer confirmed to her that she’s going to have to do two workouts a day to lose the twenty in such a short amount of time.
As my client is telling me all the work that’s involved in losing the weight, she is looking more and more nervous and doubtful about the whole thing. She’s telling me how it’s going to be tough to get one workout in a day. All I can think at this point is giiiiirrrrrl don’t even waste your time with that negative mindset. You haven’t even started your weight loss journey, and you are already giving excuses not to do the work.
There’s nothing more irritating to me than a negative Nancy. Negative thoughts are what hold you back from accomplishing great things like losing twenty pounds in twelve weeks. Positivity is what drives you to meet your goals. YES it’s hard as heck saying no to the fatty foods you love, and it’s hard as heck waking up at five every day to workout, but how badly do you want a healthier, better-looking body?
I hope my client snaps out of it. Call me crazy, but I get super pumped talking about fitness and nutrition because the benefits are too good to be bummed out. You’re telling me you would rather feel sluggish and bloated instead of toned and lean?! Silly girl.
Enough about that.
Have you watched the Bachelorette yet? I’m fully committed to watching this season ONLY because Rachel is so incredibly, smart, pretty, fun, and NORMAL. I didn’t watch her on Nick’s season of the Bachelor because I couldn’t stand the guy. The truth of it is, Nick’s voice was irritating to me. He didn’t represent Wisconsin well at all. His grand hometown tour of Waukesha was a day spent milking cows. I’m from the next town over, and I never milked a cow in my life. Talk about a boring visit. I’m just glad Rachel did not end up with that loser.
Speaking of losers; wouldn’t you agree Lucas is the clown of the house?! “WHAHHBOOM!!!” His head looks like it’s going to explode into thin air whenever he yells that nonsense!! What was with Jonathan’s creepy tickle attack on Rachel’s waist? He was so awkward about it too. If a guy did that to me, I would have slapped him. Who are your top picks for Rachel?? I don’t think any of the guys are suitable for her, but I will choose my top three by the end of this upcoming second episode.
